WHY?

The larger literary agencies rarely accept manuscripts from new writers, and as a result, less than 1% of all new manuscripts are ever read by agents or publishers - and the book that doesn't get read, doesn't get published. At Dixie Literary Agency, we find that unacceptable. Every manuscript deserves to be read.

WHAT WE DO

At Dixie Literary Agency, we read every submitted manuscript in search of good books that we can place with publishers. We have a talented team of professionals who read and evaluate every manuscript sent to us, and when we find a good book, we offer agency representation to the author. Obviously, we can only represent the best books, so make sure your manuscript is the best it can be before submitting it to us.

We evaluate and represent all types of books, both fiction and nonfiction, as well as screenplays, but please do not send technical manuals.

We do not charge a reading fee.

We do not charge a fee to represent writers.

We do charge a small fee for copying and shipping manuscripts for the authors that we represent.

We do collect a 15% commission on the sale of all domestic rights - 20% for all foreign rights (shared with a co-agent)

BOOK EDITING

We also offer a professional manuscript editing/typing service.

If your book is not ready to publish, we will tell you what is wrong and how it might be changed in order to make it more salable. We want you to become a successful author.
